CEO, Coastal Shellfish Corporation
Since 2016 Michael has served as the CEO of Coastal Shellfish. Prior to joining Coastal Shellfish, Michael was President and CEO of King Pacific Lodge, a Rosewood Resort, where he was responsible for establishing the lodge as the ultimate in luxury travel adventure. In 2010 and 2011 King Pacific was ranked #4 in Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader Choice Awards, the highest-ranking ever achieved by a Canadian property. More importantly, he shepherded the first-ever protocol between a First Nation and a private company in BC. This agreement set the precedent for all future agreements between First Nations and others in the Great Bear Rainforest.
During his time Japan, Michael was creative director at Ketchum Advertising and a two-time Clio Award finalist. He was also the 1996 winner of the prestigious AsiaWeek Short Story Competition.
He is currently a board member of STAND.earth, an environmental non-profit organization that encourages sustainable business practices.
In his spare time, Michael tries to convince his 17-year old daughter that fly-fishing for Skeena steelhead is the highest possible expression recreational enjoyment. He is also relentless in trying to land his golf ball on a patch of earth where a lawnmower has been recently used.
